10 years in the street food business and still loving every minute. We have watched the street food revolution creep up and explode all over the UK. I remember everyone saying it’s just a fad, a phase – No chance! It is never going to go, street food is here to stay!

I started this business as a market stall with a massive stainless steel front counter cooking strip rib-eye steak and chicken marinated in different sauces in rolls or wraps, grilled onions & peppers. The customer would pick their meat, sauce, and veg and it would be straight on the plate sizzling away. It had a real theatre, a rawness about it. At the time I felt that I was up against the big fairground trailers doing the flat burgers on a frozen bun – standard white trailer catering. When I realised that I had a bigger queue than them at my little stall I knew I had something special. I also realised that I was doing something that I loved. There is no better feeling than setting your stall up and selling your food, and customers coming all the way back to tell you how good it was!

Street food isn’t just about the lifestyle of the ‘street food trader’ it is also about the people who like to travel to, watch and eat the good food that has been cooked for them. It is the people that sit and enjoy the buzz and soak up the atmosphere of what a street food scene creates and brings to a place/event.
